A fragment of a Late Bronze Age socketed axe was found in 1918 in the ruins of a cottage in Durrington. It had reportedly been found originally in the vicinity of the Knighton Long Barrow (SU 14 NW 14), probably before 1900. The axe is in Devizes Museum. Note that according to Goddard, William Stukeley found a bronze axe in the Knighton Long Barrow.
