Bateman opened a barrow, no more than 18" high, called Sharp Low, on the summit of a hill to the left ogf the road to Dovedale, in 1848. Two cuttings were made, a contracted inhumation being found in each, one having an irn knife. In the middle of the barrow was a stone, beneath which lay the horn of a bull, with another bone. Bronze Age barrow with probable Saxon secondary inhumations.
