The nearest postcode is an aid to location, and does not necessarily reflect the actual address of the monument. Most scheduled monuments are not occupied buildings and have no postal address or postcode of their own. In rural and coastal areas, the nearest geocodable postal address may be several miles away.
A ring ditch is visible as a cropmark on air photographs. It is circa 12 metres in diameter, and is located close to the linear feature SE 86 SW 6. The site is scheduled as a bowl barrow. The scheduled monument description suggests that the primary central burial may well remain intact. However, primary central burials are far from being a universal feature of such barrows. The site was not excavated by Mortimer or anyone alse active in the later 19th century, but it is not clear if the monument was extant as an earthwork at the time. This barrow was previously recorded as part of SE 86 SW 19. That record should be consulted for additional information and sources.
