The nearest postcode is an aid to location, and does not necessarily reflect the actual address of the monument. Most scheduled monuments are not occupied buildings and have no postal address or postcode of their own. In rural and coastal areas, the nearest geocodable postal address may be several miles away.
A nearly-square Medieval moated site. Field investigations in 1971 found it to be water-filled at the northwest corner, but elsewhere dry and in fair condition. Moat-like extensions from the north and south corners suggest a formerly moated outer enclosure to the southeast, the perimeter of which is now perpetuated by a hedgerow with a stong inner ditch. A rectangular pond, within the moat, is fed by a spring and may have been a fish-pond.
