Medieval monastic wayside cross base. It is situated onslightly elevated ground and is one of a group adjacent to themedieval monastic road known as Mastiles Lane. This routeway isassociated with the nearby abbey at Coverham and it is thought tohave linked the abbey with its grange farms in the area.
