Most scheduled monuments are not occupied buildings and have no postal address or postcode of their own. In rural and coastal areas, the nearest geocodable postal address may be several miles away.
The site of a modern hut is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs. A rectangular enclosure which measures 8m by 5m is orientated roughly east / west. The cropmark was probably caused by the siting of a Ministry of Works hut, or similar, close to Goodrich Castle; although another interpretation suggests the cropmarks could be fishponds associated with the castle. Linear features to the south side of the castle are thought to be ploughed headland, and to the east, trenches dug by an re-enactment group.
