The nearest postcode is an aid to location, and does not necessarily reflect the actual address of the monument. Most scheduled monuments are not occupied buildings and have no postal address or postcode of their own. In rural and coastal areas, the nearest geocodable postal address may be several miles away.
Two natural mounds, which have been Scheduled as Bronze Age bowl barrows, are located in the shallow valley of Brampton Beck. The northernmost is covered by trees but comprises an oval shaped mound that measures up to 4m high and a maximum of 45m in diameter. The southernmost comprises a mound measuring 40m in diameter and up to 3m high. Their large size and morphology suggests that the mounds are natural geological features associated with surrounding glacial-fluvial features.
