The nearest postcode is an aid to location, and does not necessarily reflect the actual address of the monument. Most scheduled monuments are not occupied buildings and have no postal address or postcode of their own. In rural and coastal areas, the nearest geocodable postal address may be several miles away.
A round barrow situated on the east flank of Commondale Moor on the north of the North York Moors. The barrow has an earth and stone mound standing 0.5 metres high. It is round in shape and 7 metres in diameter. The mound was surrounded by a ditch up to 3 metres wide which has become infilled and is no longer visible as an earthwork. The centre of the mound has been slightly disturbed by excavations in the past. Scheduled.
On a visit in April 2014 I could not find anything that stood out as the remains of a round barrow at the coordinates given.Given the description given by English Heritage I thought it would stand out clearly especially as the vegetation is quite sparse at this time of year.
