The nearest postcode is an aid to location, and does not necessarily reflect the actual address of the monument. Most scheduled monuments are not occupied buildings and have no postal address or postcode of their own. In rural and coastal areas, the nearest geocodable postal address may be several miles away.
A moated site located to the north west of Westhorpe Vilage. The moat, which ranges in width from 7.5 metres on the east side to 15 metres on the south, surrounds a trapezoidal central island with a maximum internal length of 65 metres north west-south east and a width of 65 metres at the northen end narrowing to 38 metres. The northern arm of the moat and the northen end of the eastern arm have been largely infilled, although the outer edges are still clearly defined. The remainder, although silted, is seasonally wet. The moated site is within what is understood to have been the area of a medieval and Tudoe deer park associated with Westhorpe Hall, near what was probably the western boundary, and was perhaps the site of a park keepers house. Scheduled.
