Most scheduled monuments are not occupied buildings and have no postal address or postcode of their own. In rural and coastal areas, the nearest geocodable postal address may be several miles away.
A Medieval and Post Medieval moated site, visible as an earthwork, was mapped from aerial photographs taken in 1984. Located at Bellamys Farm, the moat is a trapezium in form, having no parallel sides and the moat ditch varying in length and width. The moat is 10 metres wide at its widest point, up to 3 metres deep, and waterfilled. The moat island is also a trapezium and measures 49 metres by 41 metres at its widest. An earthwork bank flanks the outside of the moat ditch on the west and north sides. Aerial photographs taken between 1946 and 1984 suggest that the moat has been reshaped, the corners becoming more rounded over time. There is no evidence for the original causeway across the moat, but a stone bridge crosses the northern arm to serve the modern buildings which now occupy the moat island area of 1,703 square metres. Scheduled.
