Most scheduled monuments are not occupied buildings and have no postal address or postcode of their own. In rural and coastal areas, the nearest geocodable postal address may be several miles away.
A circular enclosure scheduled as a medieval and or post-medieval moated site with fishpond and leat set on relatively low-lying ground which slopes gently to the north, 370 metres north east of Scar Cottage. It includes a roughly circular island measuring 33 metres in diameter, surrounded by a moat measuring between 9.5 metres and 12 metres in width and up to 1.75 metres in depth. The surface of the island is raised slightly above the level of the surrounding field and a number of earthworks, possibly building remains, are visible on the island. A leat, visible as a shallow earthwork, runs from the moat into a stream to the north. Crossing the moat on the west is a causeway approximately 2 metres wide. Outside the enclosure are earthwork remains of ponds and/or buildings. These features are surrounded by a system of medieval and/or post-medieval ridge-and-furrow (described separately in SO 73 SW 23) and later drains.
