Most scheduled monuments are not occupied buildings and have no postal address or postcode of their own. In rural and coastal areas, the nearest geocodable postal address may be several miles away.
A medieval moated site situated within Oldpark, a former deer park marked on Rocque's 1752 map of Shropshire. The moat is between 8 and 12 metres wide, and defines an oval island which measures approximately 80 metres by 96 metres. Material excavated from the moat has been used to raise the western part of the island up to 0.5 metres above the surrounding ground level. Spoil from the same source has also been used to create an internal bank up to 7 metres wide and 0.5 metres high around the southern and south-western sides of the island. The moat is now practically dry, except for two ponds created within the eastern and northern sections. A third pond, within the northern part, has been infilled. Access onto the island is via a causeway across the north-west part of the moat. The remains of a second causeway cross the north-eastern section. The centre of the island is occupied by a partly timber-framed house, to the west of which can be seen slight undulations which may indicate the positions of former buildings. Scheduled (not house).
