Remains of a late 18th/early 19th century lime kiln. It is a single pot draw hole type kiln, used to burn limestone. The limestone would be tipped into the kiln from the top through the charge hole, burned, and the resultant quicklime shovelled out from the draw hole at the bottom. The kiln is a rounded or barrel-fronted structure, constructed of large blocks of limestone rubble and set into the hillside.
