Roman quarry inscriptions cut on the rock face about above the River Eden on its west bank, south of Wetheral Cells. The inscription comprises the words MAXIMUS SCRIPSIT which is 75cm long comprising 9cm high letters, with LEG XXVV CONDRAUSISIUS 75cm away, and 50cm lower from the above, there is also the figure of a stag; followed by II, in letters between 6cm -14cm high.
