Most scheduled monuments are not occupied buildings and have no postal address or postcode of their own. In rural and coastal areas, the nearest geocodable postal address may be several miles away.
The site of a Roman villa, first uncovered in 1818 when five "apartments" were uncovered. Finds included coloured stucco, broken glass, tesserae (including a tessellated pavement) and coins. Nearby, the remains of a hypocaust were found, along with further foundations and water pipes. The site was re-examined in 1929 by officers and cadet from the RAF College at Cranwell. The excavated area appears to represent the bath wing of a corridor villa. The site is scheduled as an ancient monument.
