Cropmarks of two rectangular enclosures alongside and possibly pre-dating Ermine Street; suggested Roman date. One has been tentatively interpreted as a fort or camp. However excavations of one of the enclosures in advance of road construction uncovered pottery and lithic implements suggesting a late Neolithic/early Bronze Age date for the site.
