Anglo Saxon timber building(s) discovered in excavations in Wootton Wawen parish churchyard. Large timber postholes defining 1 or more building have a terminus ante quem of 1050. The earlier buildings are thought to be MIddle Saxon, predating any later timber or stone churches on the site, (see SP16SE9). This was succeeded by a secular cemetery which was radiocarbon dated to 1050-1160, providing a terminus ante quem for the timber buildings. Mediaeval period represented by a number of pits.
