The monument consists of two standing stones situated on top of a hill overlooking Port of Ness from the NW. These are most likely of Bronze Age date.
The stones are four metres apart and both are surrounded by packers. The S stone is a rough boulder 1.1m high and 3.4m in girth. The N stone is 1.4m high and 3.4m in girth and tapers towards the top. There is a small rectangular stone slotted against the N side of the S stone.
The area to be scheduled is circular, centred on the mid-point between the standing stones, and has a maximum diameter of 10m, as indicated in red on the accompanying map.

The monument is of national importance as evidence of ritual activity connected with the late Neolithic or Bronze Age. Further study of it and related examples may increase our understanding of the purpose and function of these structures in prehistoric society.
