Description

The monument comprises the remains of a settlement, probably of the Iron Age or Romano-British period (c.800BC - AD400). It consists of two or three sub-rectangular huts and at least one round hut within a complex of terraced enclosures (possibly yards and small fields). The enclosures utilise natural scarps and outcrops.

The site lies close to the banks of the Afon Gwna, within an area which formerly contained a large number of similar hut groups.

The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of prehistoric settlement. It retains significant archaeological potential, with a strong probability of the presence of associated archaeological features and deposits. The structures themselves may be expected to contain archaeological information concerning chronology and building techniques.

The scheduled area comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive.
