The monument comprises a circular burial cairn, probably dating from the Bronze Age. It stands on the crest of a hill to the E of the Tore of Troup. It is one of a series of broadly contemporary burial cairns and other remains which survive nearby.
The burial cairn is composed of small stones and is turf-covered. It measures 12.0m in diameter and 0.6m high. On the W side there has been some slight disturbance.
The area to be scheduled measures 100m in diameter and is centred on the burial cairn. It includes the burial cairn and an area around it in which further remains associated with its construction and use may survive. The area is marked in red on the attached map.

The monument is of national importance as a burial cairn probably of the Bronze Age some 3500 years ago. It has the potential to increase our knowledge of funerary practice during the prehistoric period. Other broadly contemporary burial cairns and settlement remains occur in the area of the Tore of Troup, and the monument is important as part of this group.
