The monument comprises a rectilinear enclosure of prehistoric date, visible as a cropmark on oblique aerial photographs.
The monument lies in arable farmland at around 25m OD. It comprises a rectilinear enclosure, defined by a narrow ditch about 2m wide, and measuring some 120m NW-SE by 60m. The monument may be associated with an extensive barrow cemetery and cursus monument which lie in the field immediately to the N.
The area proposed for scheduling comprises the remains described and an area around them within which associated deposits may be expected to be found. It is a parallelogram on plan with sides of 180m WNW-SSE and 135m NNE-SSW as marked in red on the accompanying map extract.

The monument is of national importance because of its potential to contribute to our understanding of prehistoric settlement and economy. Its importance is increased by its close proximity to monuments of potentially contemporary date.
