The monument comprises a fort of prehistoric date, partly visible as cropmarks on oblique aerial photographs, and partly obscured by dense woodland.
The monument is situated on the prominent summit of a low hill, presently tree-covered. The defences are visible as cropmarks in the arable field around and to the S of the wood, and consist of two concentric arcs of ditch up to 4m wide and about 6m apart defining an area some 100m in diameter. There are several breaks in the circuit of the ditches which may indicate entrances.
The monument appears to represent a defended hill-top settlement characteristic of the first millennium BC.
The area proposed for scheduling comprises the remains described and an area around them within which related material may be expected to be found. It is circular with a diameter of 175m, as marked in red on the accompanying map extract.
