The monument comprises the remains of two ring ditch houses of prehistoric date represented by cropmarks visible on oblique aerial photographs.
The monument lies in arable farmland at around 20m OD. It comprises two ring ditches, both measuring some 10-12m in diameter within ditches some 2-3m wide. The two ring ditches are about 100m apart. Ring ditches such as these have been shown by excavation to represent the remains of former timber roundhouses of the later prehistoric period.
The area to be scheduled encompasses the ring ditches and areas around them in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is divided into two circular parts, each with a diameter of 45m, as marked in red on the accompanying map.

The monument is of national importance because of its potential to contribute to our understanding of prehistoric settlement and house construction. Its importance is enhanced by its proximity to sites of potentially contemporary date.
