The monument comprises the remains of a ring ditch house of prehistoric date represented by cropmarks visible on oblique aerial photographs.
The monument lies in arable farmland at around 30m OD. It comprises a ring ditch some 12-15m in diameter within a ditch about 2-3m wide. Excavation has demonstrated that such features represent the remains of timber roundhouses of later prehistoric date.
The area to be scheduled encompasses the cropmark remains and an area around them in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is almost circular on plan, lacking only a small part of the circle at the SSE, where the boundary is defined by the top edge of a cutting. The area's maximum diameter is 50m, and it is marked in red on the accompanying map.

The monument is of national importance because of its potential to contribute to our understanding of prehistoric settlement. Its importance is enhanced by the proximity of other sites, probably of similar date.
