The monument comprises the remains of an enclosed settlement of prehistoric date represented by cropmarks visible on oblique aerial photographs.
The site occupies prominent ground in arable farmland at around 65m OD, commanding extensive views to the N, E and S. It comprises a circular enclosure some 25m in diameter within a ditch up to some 5m broad. There is a narrow entrance on the SE flanked by simple curved ditch terminals.
The enclosure is smaller than most later prehistoric enclosed settlements and may represent an earlier ritual enclosure. The area to be scheduled encompasses the visible remains and an area around them in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is circular with a diameter of 55m as marked in red on the accompanying map.

The monument is of national importance because of its potential to contribute to our understanding of prehistoric settlement and economy. Should the site prove to be a henge monument rather than a later prehistoric settlement it would assume equal importance for its potential to add to our understanding of Neolithic ritual practices.
