The monument consists of a ring of contiguous boulders, the E edge of which has fallen down the side of the steep promontory on which the ring stands. It measures 15m across and the boulders range in height from 0.8 to 1.2m. The area to be scheduled measures 35m NS by 25m EW as shown on the attached map.

The monument is of national importance as a rare example if a ritual enclosure, probably containing buried cremations and small cists. It is on a promontory which would have been clearly visible from a nearby group of substantial round houses and is of further national importance for its potential contribution to understanding of burial practices in the second millennium BC.
