Description

The monument consists of a well preserved long cairn situated in a forestry plantation; it measures 45m EW by 14m NS and 1.4m high. The area to be scheduled measures 65m EW by 35m NS.

Statement of Scheduling

The monument is of national importance as a large and well preserved example of a fairly rare type which can increase understanding of Neolithic magico-ritual burial practices; it is of further importance for the pollen in its underlying old ground surface which can increase understanding of the vegetation and farming practices of the period immediately preceding its construction.
