The monument comprises a circular bank of earth and stones up to 4m wide and 0.4m high enclosing an area of 20m in diameter with a disturbed stony mound at its centre. There is an entrance through the bank in the SE arc. The area to be scheduled includes the structures described above and an area in which traces of activities associated with its construction and use will survive as depicted in red on the attached map. It measures 40m in diameter and is bounded on the NE by but excludes a fence as delineated in red on the attached map.

The monument is of national importance because it is a fine example of a rare type which has the potential to increase our understanding of prehistoric burial practice.
