The monument consists of a long wedgeshaped turf covered mound of earth and stone measuring 19m NE-SW by up to 10m across and 0.5m high. The area to be scheduled measures 40m NE-SW by 30m transversely centred on the mound and including an area in which traces of activities associated with the use of the mound may survive as depicted in red on the attached map.

The monument is of national importance as one of the rare surviving examples of an unchambered long burial mound with intact underlying old ground surface and because of its potential for increasing understanding of Neolithic burial practices and of the vegetation and farming practices of the period immediately prior to its construction.
