Description

The remains of a broch measuring 18.5m in overall diameter with a wall 4.6m wide. The entrance is in the E and to the S of it are traces of an intra-mural cell. The area to be preserved measures 40m in diameter, to include the structure described above and an area around it in which traces of activities associated with its use will survive, as depicted in red on the attached map: the scheduled area specifically excludes the modern structure on its N boundary.

Statement of Scheduling

The site is of national importance because it can give us a greater understanding of Iron Age settlement. It is of particular interest for its potential to enhance our understanding of prehistoric structural techniques.
