Description

The monument comprises a hut circle measuring 10.2m by 8.3m within a wall up to 1.9m wide. The entrance is not clear. A linear earthwork runs just to the SSE of the hut circle and represents part of a field system of contemporary date. The area to be scheduled includes the hut circle, the linear earthwork and an area around in which traces

of activities associated with the occupation of the settlement will survive. The area measures 35m SW-NE by 40m NW-SE and is shown in red on the attached plan.

Statement of Scheduling

The monument is of national importance as a well preserved field monument and because it has the potential to increase our understanding of prehistoric round house construction and agricultural practices.
