Statement of Scheduling

The monument is of national importance as a well preserved burial mound which has the potential to considerably enhance our understanding of prehistoric funerary and ceremonial practices. It is of particular importance because it will cover an area of Neolithic or Bronze Age land surface, which could considerably increase our understanding of early land use in Fife. The importance of the monument is further enhanced by the proximity of a similar mound, only 225m to the NE; comparison of the remains would be of great value.
