The monument comprises an enclosure, which is situated on the west bank of the Knowesouth Burn, between two gullies.
The enclosure is sub-circular on plan and measures about 43m in diameter within an earthen bank (7.6m in width and up to 2.1m in height). A second bank has been constructed about 9m beyond the SW edge of the main enclosure bank, and it runs from the outer side of the NW gully round to the S of the enclosure, where its place is taken by a projection from the N side of the entrance-gap of the main enclosure bank. Towards the rear (W) of the enclosure is a platform, which may have been for a timber house. Two drainage gullies have been cut through the bank on the SE.
The area to be scheduled is irregular on plan and measures 100m from E-W by 100m transversely, to include the earthwork and an area around in which traces of activities associated with its construction and use may survive, as marked in red on the accompanying map.
