Description

The monument is a circular homestead of the later prehistoric period, probably from the late centuries BC or the early centuries AD, situated on the edge of a cultivated terrace above the northern bank of the River Lyon, commanding excellent views along the Glen.

The wall of the homestead is clearly visible, the outer face being marked by occasional heavy boulders. It is about 25m in diameter overall. There is a gap in the E which probably represents an entrance. There are traces of possible features in the interior.

The area to be scheduled is a circle 50m in diameter, truncated at the east, where the boundary is defined by the modern burn, to include the visible features of the homestead and an area around in which traces of activity associated with its use may survive, as marked in red on the attached map.
