Description

The monument comprises a cairn of prehistoric date, visible as a stony mound.

The monument lies on a prominent knoll at around 130m OD. It comprises a round cairn measuring about 14m in diameter and some 2.3m in height. There are a number of large kerbstones visible at the SE perimeter of the cairn. Cairns of this type are funerary monuments dating to the Neolithic or early Bronze Age, and may be expected to contain material relating to the burials which they contained and also to their mode of construction and use.

The area proposed for scheduling comprises the remains described and an area around them within which related material may be expected to be found. It is circular, with a diameter of 35m, as marked in red on the accompanying map extract.
