The monument comprises a square barrow of prehistoric date, visible as a cropmark on oblique aerial photographs.
The monument lies in arable farmland at around 125m OD. It comprises a square barrow, defined by a narrow ditch and enclosing an area measuring about 12m by 12m. The ditch itself is about 0.5m wide. A small cropmark within the square barrow marks the location of a central grave pit. These monuments are ploughed out burial mounds and may be expected to contain evidence of burials. Square barrows are usually thought to date to the first half of the first millennium AD.
The area proposed for scheduling comprises the remains described and an area around them within which related material may be expected to be found. It is circular with a diameter of 40m, as marked in red on the accompanying map extract.

The monument is of national importance because of its potential to contribute to an understanding of prehistoric funerary practices. Its importance is increased by its proximity to other monuments of potentially contemporary date.
