The monument comprises a ring-ditch house of prehistoric date, visible as a series of cropmarks on oblique aerial photographs.
The monument lies in arable farmland at around 130m OD. It comprises a circular ditch, some 2m wide, enclosing an area about 18m in diameter. There is a break in the ditch on its SE which appears to represent the entrance. On either side of the entrance the ditch terminals appear to expand in width.
Ring-ditches such as this have been found on excavation to represent the remains of timber roundhouses of later prehistoric date. Within the same field are a series of other, similar cropmarks, suggesting that the ring-ditch formed part of a more extensive pattern of settlement.
The area proposed for scheduling comprises the remains described and an area around them within which related material may be expected to be found. It is a truncated circle with a maximum diameter of 40m, bounded on the SW by a fence (which is itself excluded from the scheduling), as marked in red on the accompanying map extract.
