The monument comprises a square barrow of late prehistoric date, visible as cropmarks on oblique aerial photographs.
The monument lies in arable farmland at around 45m OD. It comprises a square ditched barrow, measuring about 10m across internally, within a ditch about 1.5m wide. There is evidence for a central burial pit.
Square barrows are a distinct form of burial monument of a type thought to be characteristic of the first half of the first millennium AD. Burials may be expected to survive within and around the barrow.
The area proposed for scheduling comprises the remains described and an area around them within which related material may be expected to be found. It is circular with a diameter of 60m, as marked in red on the accompanying map extract.
