The monument comprises an unenclosed settlement of prehistoric date.
The monument lies in arable farmland at around 35m OD. It consists of two disc-shaped cropmarks, measuring about 10m in diameter, from which extend short linear cropmarks. The disc-shapes probably represent the remains of timber roundhouses with sunken floors, while the linear cropmarks may represent souterrains. Souterrains are semi-subterranean structures generally regarded as having been used for storage in later prehistory.
The area proposed for scheduling comprises the remains described and an area around them within which related material may be expected to be found. It is semi-circular with a maximum diameter of 50m, constrained on the N by the presence of a quarry, as marked in red on the accompanying map extract.

The monument is of national importance because of its potential to contribute to our understanding of prehistoric settlement and economy. Its importance is increased by its close proximity to sites of potentially contemporary date. It is being threatened by quarrying, but this threat has receded.
