The present rescheduling has been prompted by the recommendations of a monument warden visit in order to clarify the extent of the scheduled area.
The monument comprises a standing stone of prehistoric date, visible as an upstanding monument, and most likely relates to ritual activity of Neolithic or Bronze Age date.
The monument is situated on a W-facing hillside in rough pasture at about 60m O.D. The monument comprises a standing stone measuring c. 4.5m high by 12m broad by 0.3m thick. Its width is regular for more than half its height, after which it tapers towards the top. It stands within a wet hollow with a few packing stones visible around the base.
The area proposed for scheduling comprises the remains described and an area around them within which related material may be expected to be found. It is circular in shape, with a diameter of 10m centred on the standing stone, as marked in red on the accompanying map extract.
