The monument comprises a standing stone of Neolithic or Bronze Age
date situated on a terrace of the River Tummel at approximately 200m
OD.
The standing stone lies some 600m S of the River Tummel close to the
E end of Loch Rannoch. The stone is squat in proportions measuring
some 1m N-S by 0.7m and standing 1.1m high.
Monuments of this kind represent ritual sites of the Neolithic and Bronze Age and can contain evidence for ritual activity over a protracted period of which the stone itself is the most visible component.
The area to be scheduled encompasses the standing stone and an area around it in which traces of associated ritual activity may be
expected to survive. It is circular with a diameter of 20m as marked
in red on the accompanying map.

The monument is of national importance because of its potential to add to our understanding of Neolithic and Bronze Age ritual activity. The area around the stone may be expected to contain buried deposits associated with the ritual use of the site.
