The monument comprises a cross slab dating to the Early Medieval period (AD 400 – 1000). The monument is located in Farr Churchyard.

The monument consists of a large upright stone slab of blue schistose slate measuring 2.29m high by 0.62m wide and 0.23m thick. The eastern face is carved in relief and displays a ringed cross on a D-shaped pedestal. Decoration includes a raised boss with triple spiral; key patterns; interlace and two birds with necks entwined. The western face is uncarved and the base of the slab is below ground.

The scheduled area is a circle 8m in diameter. It includes the remains described above and an area around within which evidence relating to the monument's construction, use and abandonment is expected to survive, as shown in red on the accompanying map. The top 300mm of the path and all active burial lairs are specifically excluded from the scheduled area.
