The monument is a group of ceremonial and burial monuments of the Bronze Age. The monument comprises two cairns, each surrounded by a stone circle, two standing stones and the area between and around them in which traces of activities associated with their use will survive. The cairns were partly excavated in 1939 but the area around was not much disturbed. The area to be scheduled measures 80m E to W by a maximum of 45m N to S, bounded on the north by the hill track (which is itself excluded from the scheduling), as marked in red on the attached map.

The monument is of national importance as a group of burial and ceremonial monuments with very well preserved and clearly defined field characteristics. The monument, particularly the undisturbed area around the visible elements, has the potential to enhance considerably our understanding of prehistoric burial and ritual practices.
