The monument comprises a stone circle of prehistoric date, visible as a series of upstanding stones. The monument was last scheduled in 1961, but the protected area was inadequately defined: the present rescheduling rectifies this.
The monument is situated in an arable field, on a clearly defined stony mound about 20m in diameter, at around 70m OD. The mound is raised c.1m above the surrounding ground level. The stone circle comprises six upright stones set approximately 3m apart, which form a circle with a diameter of c.7m. The upright stones are graded in height towards the SW (the tallest) and vary between c.0.8m and 2.4m in height. Stone settings of this type are characteristic of the Neolithic period (Stone Age).
The area proposed for scheduling comprises the remains described and an area around them within which related material may be expected to survive. It is circular in shape, with a diameter of 40m, as marked in red on the accompanying map. The above ground components of the field boundary (present within the scheduled area to the NE) are excluded.
