The monument consists of the remains of a prehistoric chambered burial cairn, on the ridge of Bekka Hill, 770m N of its summit.
The cairn is of typical Shetland "heel-shaped", or semi-circular, plan. On the SSE side a straight facade 7.2m long is formed by larger blocks, with a very large boulder at each end. Within the body of the cairn, which has been severely robbed, two large slabs indicate a central chamber.
The area to be scheduled is circular, 30m in diameter, to include the cairn and an area around it in which evidence of activities relating to its construction and use may survive, as shown in red on the accompanying map.

The monument is of national importance as a Neolithic burial cairn, which may, despite being disturbed, provide important evidence relating to prehistoric burial practices and, from the soil sealed beneath the cairn, contemporary land-use and environmental conditions.
