The monument consists of the well preserved stone foundations of nine rectangular long huts, a rectangular house platform and a square shelter or pen. This large settlement is probably the surviving remains of the hafodai called Combroinok in the 1352 Record of Caernarfon.
The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of medieval settlement organisation. It retains significant archaeological potential, with a strong probability of the presence of associated archaeological features and deposits. Added interest is given by the survival of documentary information and the possibility that the settlement has developed through several phases of occupation and use. Large medieval settlements are rare and important survivals. Deserted rural settlements such as this may be part of a larger cluster of monuments and their importance can be further enhanced by their group value.
