Description

The monument comprises the remains of a stone row, which probably dates to the Bronze Age (c. 2300 - 800 BC). The row consists of five stones, which measure, taking them from the west, as follows: 1.) 1.5m x 0.9m x 0.75m; 2.) (fallen) 1.8m x 1.0m x 0.45m; 3.) 1.8m x 0.6m x 1.05m; 4.) 0.9m x 0.75m x 0.3m and 5.) (fallen) 1.65m x 0.45m x 0.25m. The features lie on a slight north-facing slope on a ridge adjacent to an ancient routeway through the Meirionnydd hills, and are among a number of sites in the local area which represent the ritual landscape along this routeway.

The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of prehistoric burial and ritual practices. The features are an important relic of a prehistoric funerary and ritual landscape and retain significant archaeological potential. There is a strong probability of the presence of both intact ritual and burial deposits, together with environmental and structural evidence. Stone rows are often part of a larger cluster of monuments and their importance can further enhanced by their group value.

The scheduled area comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive.
