Description

The monument comprises an especially well preserved isolated hut circle on a relatively level area beneath the eastern flanks of Moel Hebog. The hut dates to the Iron Age or Romano British periods (c. 800 BC - AD 400). It is substantially built, with a wall including large upright stones, and has a small attached enclosure, defined by a line of boulders.

The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of prehistoric domestic life and social organisation. The remote location has ensured that it has not been disturbed and therefore retains significant archaeological potential, with a strong probability of the presence of structural evidence and associated archaeological features and deposits. The possible association with a number of other related types of site in the locality give the monument group significance for our understanding of the wider settlement pattern at this time.

The scheduled area comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive.
