Nearest Postcode

The nearest postcode is an aid to location, and does not necessarily reflect the actual address of the monument. Most scheduled monuments are not occupied buildings and have no postal address or postcode of their own. In rural and coastal areas, the nearest geocodable postal address may be several miles away.

Two Neolithic polished stone axes from TF 09121051 and a stone axe from TF 08871065, all found in 1963-4, were recorded by Stamford Museum, although they did not retain the axes nor record details of the finders. The latter was apparently found in the bank of a stream. The farmer apparently knew nothing of these finds, but was apparently present when his brother found an axe at TF 09101027, which was then taken to Stamford Museum by an "agricultural salesman", who had some others. Thus the precise number of axes found in the area is unclear, to say the least.
