A complete homestead moat, part brick-revetted, water filled and in good condition, lying some 70m east of Shelley Hall [TM 03 NW 6]. Prior to the creation of a Tudor style garden on the central island in 1999, supposedly on the site of an original garden, investigation revealed archaeological remains beneath a layer of spoil spread across the island after scouring the moat. Documentary references to an early 16th century garden were also found. Scheduled.
